Courier Services

Pathology Specialists provides a prompt and professional, full-time courier service. Courier services include routine and STAT specimen pick-up, as well as report and supply delivery. A lock-box can also be provided for pick up after regular business hours.

Courier service for specimen pick-up is available in two different ways:

  1. Routine Pick-Up – Courier will stop by daily to pick up specimens. Multiple pick-ups are available, as needed.
  2. Will-Call – Courier will stop by at your request. STAT service is available. For optimal turnaround time on frozen sections, please schedule your pick up in advance.

Reports

Pathology Specialists processes surgical specimens the same day as received and completes interpretation and reporting within 24 hours for most routine cases. Reporting times may vary depending on the complexity of the case and the need for special stains, consultation, prolonged fixation, etc. Consultations on difficult cases are made locally or sent to nationally recognized experts.

Reports can be delivered in a variety of ways:

  1. Hand-Delivery – Reports are hand-delivered daily, by courier, directly to your office.
  2. Fax – Computer generated reports are faxed automatically to your office on a daily basis.
  3. Mail – Reports will be sent out daily via USPS.
  4. Online – 4Medica, our web-based reporting system, allows you to view and print your reports right in your office. Results are uploaded to 4Medica every 7 minutes.

Reports may include digital images, upon request. Reports with digital images are available by hand-delivery, fax, or mail.

Billing

The billing office for Pathology Specialists files insurance claims and is responsible for obtaining payment from third-party payors and patients. Fair and competitive pricing is important to us. Our billing personnel are happy to work directly with any patient who may have billing questions or concerns and, if necessary, set up a payment plan to fit the patient’s needs.

Client Services

Pathology Specialists wishes to be the primary laboratory for all your anatomic pathology laboratory needs. Our Client Service Representative will visit your office regularly to ensure your continued satisfaction and to assist you with any concerns you may have regarding reporting, supplies, billing, turnaround time, etc. Additionally, this representative will provide you with insurance updates and new services information.

Frozen Sections

Frozen sections are available 24 hours/day. For optimal turnaround time, schedule pick-up with courier service in advance. If before 7:30am or after 5:30pm, please provide advance notice directly to the pathology department. Frozen section diagnosis will generally be called to your office within 20 minutes from receipt of the specimen in the pathology department.
